COURSE DESCRIPTION

WEEK 1 – Niching Yourself and Your Busines

The better you tailor your market, the faster you will be known as an expert in your industry.

Business owners old and new are often reluctant to niche their businesses to a specific target market because they fear they will be missing out on business, when in fact just the opposite is true. You cannot be a general, all-purpose expert - you must specialize in something to be an expert. And when you're an expert, you can  charge more! Come learn why "everyone who.." is never a good lead and how to niche yourself to start building your status - and brand - as an expert.

WEEK 2 –

Making the Most of Your Marketing Materials Are your business cards, website, and brochures consistent with your brand?
Although your brand is more than your logo, your logo is important. But is it saying the right thing about you and your business? Do you consistently use your photo in your marketing materials? Are all your marketing materials color-coordinated with a professional look to them? If you've answered "No" - or "I'm not sure" - to any of these questions, you'll want to be sure to attend this session. Bring your current marekting materials for a group evaluation, and use the feedback to improve your branding immediately.

You do it every week, but are you getting the best possible return on the time and money you are investing in your networking activities?

Networking is the lifeblood of almost every entrepreneur, but most are unaware of how well their networking is working. If you don't know where your business is coming from, isn't it time you find out? Come learn what your networking personality is, and how to best approach those with other methods and styles. Learn the fastest way to turn off a new friend or prospective lead at a networking event, and how to be remembered. Even if you've been at the networking game for a long, long time, this session will likely give you at least a few new ideas to chew on, and perhaps ways to use networking to build your business.

WEEK 4 – Public Speaking 101
Getting in front of lots of people at the same time is a smart, fast way to build your brand and generate leads.
Some people allegedly fear speaking in public more than they fear dying. But if you could improve your brand and increase your leads by learning to give effective presentations, wouldn't it be worth conquering that fear? Even the most practiced speakers still get nervous sometimes - but they've learned techniqes to calm their nerves and get in front of audience after audience, sharing their knowledge and expertise. Learn how to craft a presentation, where to look for bookings, and how to get paid even for free engagements.

WEEK 5 – Powerful PowerPoint
If you are currently using more than 6 words per slide in your PowerPoint presentations, you're losing your audiences!

PowerPoint is a slide presentation tool that was meant to enhance presentations, not bore people to death. Unfortunately, most users have no idea how to create vital, impactful presentations that both generate a dialouge with the audience and leave them wanting more. The key is the effective use of images - and the carving away of almost all words. Banish the bullets and prohibit the paragraphs! Come learn how to take your PowerPoint presentations from ho-hum to WOW!

WEEK 6 – Video Viral Marketing (Joey Sampaga - guest presenter)
Learn to use video to help create an indelible brand.
The term “viral marketing” comes from the word “virus.” You get a bug and pass it on to someone who passes it on to someone else, etc. For those who play their cards right, the same is true when it comes to marketing. If you’ve ever watched a YouTube video, or had someone forward a video to you via e-mail, you already have experienced the power of video viral marketing. Come learn how to put together your own video or video campaign, starting with an idea and a script. Joey will teach you everything you need to know to create short, memorable, powerful videos that will set you apart from everyone else in your industry.
WEEK 3 – Networking 101 (David Hepburn Jr. , guest presenter)

The best way to justify a significant increase in your fees is to become and be known as THE expert in your industry or niche. The fastest way to become an expert is to START WRITING!

This 6-week seminar series will cover 6 easy, inexpensive, important ways to market yourself with your writing. You don’t have to be a great writer – you just have to start. Remember, done is better than perfect!

WEEK 3 – Media Releases

WEEK 4 – Article Marketing

WEEK 6 – SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
April 22, 2010

COURSE DESCRIPTION

WEEK 1 – Social Networking (twitter, facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)

Write messages to create relationships.
Although almost everybody has heard of social media – and is, perhaps, signed up with several social networking sites – few fully understand their potential as places to create relationships, establish expertise, and build your business. Come find out why social networking sites are NOT the place to push your products, why your teeny-tiny picture matters so much, how to complete your profile for your best exposure, how to identify good people to have in your network, and how to decide which networks are the best ones for you.

WEEK 2 – Blogging
Write to get and stay connected with clients, colleagues, vendors, and industry insiders.
Though blogs started as online journals most often utilized by teenagers, they quickly came to the forefront of Web communications as a means of connection and conversation with the whole world. Come learn the basics about setting up a blog and choosing the right platform for your needs; how blogging can be an enormous boost for traffic to your traditional Web site; whether you still need a traditional site if you have a blog; and why commenting on others' blogs is so important.

Write to inform the media and othes of the newsworthy aspects of your business.
WEEK 3 – Media Releases

Media releases differ from blogs and articles in that their primary function is to generate interest from the media so that they will contact you for further information or an interview, which can lead to a story in the print/online/broadcast media. In the case of a media release, you are not writing to the end user, but to the editor or producer who will assign a reporter to cover the stories that are interesting and newsworthy. Come learn what might be newsworthy about your business, and how to write a release that will get the media's attention and set you apart from the thousands of other news releases they receive every day.

Write on- and offline about ever aspect of your business, industry, niche, or clients.
WEEK 4 – Article Marketing

Articles differ still from blogs and media releases in that they contain research, are written for the end-user, and are disseminated through different channels. A good rule of thumb is that virtually any article can be used as a blog post, but not every blog post can be treated as an article. Come discover why article marketing is so important for driving traffic to your site (and blog) and positioning you as an expert; how to find topics; where to submit; how often to submit; and how to create a writing schedule.

Write tips, techniques, how-to advice from your perspective as an expert in your industry.
WEEK 5 – eBooks

An eBook is the same as a printed book - it's just delivered electronically (e.g., no trees are killed to get your book in your readers' hands). Whether you plan to sell it or give it away as an inexpensive marketing product, your eBook can be an invaluable way to share your message with your prospective clients. This session will teach you how to determine a topic for your eBook; how to structure your chapters; how to repurpose other materials as content for your eBook; whether and how much to charge; and how to market your eBook.

WEEK 6 – SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
Pull it all together to increase your rankings in the major search engines.
How much good does it do to have a gorgeous Web site you spent thousands of dollars to build if no one ever visits it? NONE! All of the above techniques will help improve your rankings in the major search engines, but there are still otehr things you need to do to get to the top - and, more importantly, stay at the top of the search engines for your chosen keywords. Come learn some of the easy strategies that will help you enhance your SEO and drive more traffic to your Web site (or blog).
